Personality: Saito is kind at heart, physically imposing, as well as a loyal subordinate. His deep appreciation to the Gotei 13 for giving purpose to his life, an existence that at first seemed meaningless, and for his duties within the gotei 13, he will do anything, even die. Saito is a somber man, constantly reminded by years prior when he was a wretch of society on a course for destruction, yet undyingly loyal to the values he holds. Unlike most Captains, he is not tough or cruel with his division, preferring to lead with neutrality. When provoked, he expects nothing less of sincerity from those around him. He's decisive, forthcoming, and keen.


History/Background:
Though he harbors no recollection of his life as a human, Saito once had a dream he believed might had been true at a time. He was a young man who lived in the feudal era of japan, especially talented at martial arts. He ran a tea shop alone in the midst of village plagued with civil war. In time he lost his life to a blast of gun powder, in attempts to protect a woman he admired.

He was raised in the lower districts of the Rukongai, at a young age the decisions Saito carried out were purely based upon survival since he lived in poverty. Out of admiration for a friend who had become a shinigami, he sought to do the same, in hopes to make a difference in the rukongai. He soon enrolled in the academy, having trouble with kido spells most of all.
His zanjutsu technique was acknowledged by higher ups and ultimately led him to become a seated officer, serving under the 9th division.
Once achieving Captain Status Saito immediately began fighting for changes to be made within the Seireitei Court, he argued that if the struggle to sustain balance continued as it did, the Shinigami would eventually fall. Though his faith in the gotei 13 surpassed all else, even his own instinct.
