Hoshi [Shinigami] [11th Division Captain]

Appearance: Having a very slender figure, Hoshi is often regarded as 'too weak' for his own good. Being too slim, although that is far from reality as he does have his own set of muscles, it isn't much to set much of an impression on someone. He's but a slim jim in someone's view. In terms of facial appearance, he has a fine blue hair and fine blue glimmering eyes that reflects his icy heritage. Having traits mostly associated with a user of ice or water, that being his Reiatsu is cold and moist whilst his breathe would feel minty if one was to be breathed on. In terms of clothing appearance, Hoshi wears greyish khaki robes rather than the traditional Shinigami ones, mostly out of the fact that grey-khaki absorbs less heat than black. All stemming from the fact that he has a dislike of heat in general.

Personality: Hoshi is basically a calm, even somewhat fanciful a character, who likes to daydream and wonder in nature, but at the same time he is very knowledgeable about the world and reality, and someone who really is interested about the world around him and people living in it. He could be described social and friendly, and likes not to make a show about himself being a nobleman-like person with the riches he has – he actually likes to dress up like any regular citizen and observe their life from their point of view. In the role of a millionaire he’s no less friendly nor arrogant because of his status, though some may dislike him for not ‘acting like a rich person should’. Of course he does know proper manners and in the most formal of occasions he of course does follow them, but he just does not like the so brightly drawn a line between e.g. the rich and the poor and other people – he’d like to think about people being more equal and finds the rich rebelling for something like their status in the society pretty absurd, if not even just ridiculous. He’s also always curious and eager to learn about things new to him, be them related to people or to foreign cultures, or pretty much anything new to him in general.

Hoshi is pretty reserved for his own stature, often simply preferring to stand back in the crowd and watch what's unfolding. Preferring not to get involved into many things due to the fact he finds problems quite troublesome and not worth his time.

Though being quite capable a leader even himself, Hoshi prefers not to actually make any contributions to war or any kind of fighting, rather trying to solve matters in a manner that no fighting would be included. Be it either a battle field or a squabble among his subordinates, he’s the perpetual negotiator between those who argue, and he does have some sort of natural essence in his characteristic which tends to calm down people around him, even if they’re just otherwise restless and so on.

Hoshi is also pretty artistic, being himself a capable painter and otherwise a big fan of art – being it then paintings, photography, music, dance or some sort of a performance. He is a patron of many artistic facilities in his house as well as actually also abroad, having even personally supported many young and talented artists for their careers to take flight.

History/Background: Born as a rich person to a well-to-do middle class family and his mother being the overprotective worrywart she was, Hosih led quite a privileged, yet also very protected a childhood inside the walls of his family's residence. Being an heir to the 'throne' of the family, in all he was well educated, and his artistic traits were spotted early so he did get tutored by many skilled painters and masters.

For his desire for freedom and his eagerness to learn also about the world and the people outside the house, Hoshi actually used to be pretty much the same kind of rebellious teenager, even if it’s pretty hard to believe of his normally moderate behavior nowadays. Excluding his art lessons, he used to run off for his own ‘field trips’ and was quite a pain in his tutors’ derriere, and for his mother’s horror somehow even managed to start taking classes in riding horses as well as classes to wield a Zanpakuto – but as he had bargained the permission from his father the 11th Division Captain himself, even his mother wasn’t able to stop him. Eventually, with his hard-earned hobbies and the skills as a negotiator which he had achieved and already turned to everyone’s good earlier by the age of ten, as well as with also then some actually allowed field-trips with his tutors, he finally began to get his mother convinced that world was not so bad a place outside there and he could manage his life also by himself, not her ‘protecting’ and taking care of him all the time. Inside he did care about his mother, but he did also want the freedom he, as a child, never had.

Gradually her mother had to let go, and Hoshi finally got what he had desired – all the freedom a person could possibly have. Though soon he got some new limits to his freedom – his age as he turned to 124 and then as a major, he had to take up and start to take responsibility of his own status and duties as a Shinigami. He was sent to academy for some time to learn the ways of Seireitei and how to lead his subordinates like a leader should, and his skills as a negotiator were now really put into use. Soon he handled most of the diplomatic affairs between Rokungai and Seireitei in diplomatic missions as a 3rd Seat in the 10th division. He later returned to honing his own skills among swords and Shunpo, as well as in arts and becoming quite a name also in the artistic circles of Seireitei.

Until now he was settled to that, but now as the Arrancas situation has really started to explode, he’s been drawn back to more political and war related matters, which he doesn’t really like but endures for the time being for it is his duty as a newly promoted Captain of the 11th Division in his father's place.

The vanity mirror reflected Franz's almost empty expression as he sat before it, running a brush through his short blonde hair. He was well-rested and he healthy, but there wasn’t much he could do about it at the moment. Now he felt the need to do something. Satisfied that his hair was properly brushed, Franz set the brush down and started to fix his hair. It was his nightly routine.

"I like it left down. You should know that." It was his mistress's voice in his ear, and Franz nodded, sliding his fingers through his hair again to fix it. The same hands that had stopped his routine led him to the window. The hands were oddly gentle as they caressed Franz's pale cheeks while his Mistress's mouth descended to his ear. "I have a job for you." His mistress purred before lowering to nip along his neck. Her hands were soft tonight as they moved over his now arm, playing his body like a finely tuned instrument. One he tuned himself. "There is a storm brewing up in Karakura. Aid them, and I will reward you handsomely."

The mistress was being oddly gentle tonight. Franz didn’t know if she was reluctant to let him go, worried about the mission, or if it was completely unrelated. Regardless of where his Mistress's sudden tenderness had come from, Franz wasn’t complaining. He just nodded, ever compliant to his Mistress, and let his mind wander as Helen used him as she pleased.

Karakura town. That was half way around the world. Franz hadn't been out of the country without his Mistress or a friend of his as an escort, and now he was being sent around the world alone. Did that mean she trusted him? Trust probably wasn't the right word. She probably just knew that Franz was bound to her. Where else would he go? What else could he do? She was all Franz knew, and it was true. Still, Franz was glad to go for more reasons that just to please his Mistress. It was different than this. Maybe better, maybe worse, but different was a good start. Maybe it would be a fresh start. All alone. Free. Maybe.
