Name: Sugisaki Miharu [Miru for short]

Age: 438

Visual Age: 17

Gender: Male [Though most everyone thinks he is a girl.]

Division: 13th

Personality: Miharu has a tendency to act unemotional, and not much seems to phases him. He does have a mischievous streak, but one can't usually tell when he's in one of those moods due to the fact that he has mastered the art of keeping his face and eyes completely blank [right along with the art of disappearing before one's eyes]. If things aren't going the way he wants, he usually uses his feminine looks to get what he wants, even going so far as to shirk his duties using this technique, as he hates working. Despite his dislike of working, if people are counting on him, he won't fail to pull through. Especially if he views those people as friends.

Appearance:
Spoiler:
["girl"]
Spoiler:
[Guy]
~Height: Around 5'2"
~Other: When wearing his wig, he usually has it tied into braids, rather than ponytails.

History/Background: As a young child, Miharu lived in Tokyo, on the mainland. His parents were Shinobi[Ninja] enthusiasts, and taught him all kinds of things. By the age of ten, he was highly skilled in ninjutsu [Ninja arts], including things that utterly shocked his parents. Namely, his ability to bend nature to his will. At the age of 11, the Sugisaki family picked up and moved to one of the recently created 'island cities', artificial islands that had the ability to act as a mass boat by breaking free of their anchors. In this city, Miharu's parents hoped to stop him from using the "supernatural" powers he was able to make use of. Still, he continued to practice ninjutsu, training his body and mind outside of the knowledge of his parents.

Four years passed this way. Living on the huge island gave Miharu plenty of ways to dodge his parents scrutiny. He got good grades and pretended to make friends to keep them off his back. One day, while on the other side of the city, he discovered a wig shop. Interested, the 15-year-old entered, looking at the various wigs for sale. It wasn't long after that he came out with a brunet wig, a few wig caps, and supplies for caring for the wig. It was that spur of the moment decision that lead him to cross-dressing for the first time. Testing his ability to disguise himself, he returned home, passing by the yard where his mother was tending to the garden. The woman was totally fooled.

Pleased with the results, he tested it on his father, getting the same results. After that, he continued to cross-dress, even going so far as to wear skirts. His parents never once discovered their son's new habits, as he did his own washing.

It was two years later that everything started to fall apart in Miharu's world. First, his grandparents died in a horrible accident on the mainland. Then something that was never supposed to happen began. The island was falling apart. The anchors went first, exploding and causing the island to break in half. More explosions rippled across the surface in loud booms that were heard for miles. Terror and panic drew in the Hollows.

Miharu, dressed as a girl, was with his only friend at the time, a quiet guy his own age who easily towered over Miharu. They shared a common bond in being spiritually aware and able to use a strange power. When they were confronted with several Hollows, they fought back together. However, it was no use. However much they fought, there was too many to win. Miharu's friend ordered him to run, saying that at least one of them had to live, and that he would live on in Miharu as long as he was remembered.

Miharu ran, while his friend distracted the monsters. He regretted it, but he knew that he was the only one fast enough to escape. Making a split second decision, he headed for his home. His mother was sick, and his father worked too far away to save her in the escape. It was up to him to rescue her.

However, he was too late... both for her, and himself. Just as he was entering the apartment, an explosion tore through the building...

When he woke, he was laying on a scrap of what was left of the island. Many other people were there with him. He was shocked, though he didn't show it, keeping his face blank. Most of them seemed to think that they were still alive. Miharu knew the truth. He remembered feeling his body being burned, but yet he was fine now. Figuring it was just denial, he pulled himself to his feet, getting a better look around. Off to the side was a man wearing a black hakama and holding a katana. He'd seen the man before, and knew him for what he was.

Approaching the man was surprisingly easy. He asked him of his mother, and got an apology for not knowing, but not in the form he expected. Looking down, he saw brown braids and a skirt. He almost laughed, at the sheer irony of his disguise still working, even after death, but shoved it down as he looked around and sighed. His mother was nowhere to be seen. Figuring it was for the best [he didn't want to shock her with his current appearance], he turned back to the Shinigami and asked him to do what he was on that scrap for in the first place.

The red-headed spirit closed his eyes, feeling the butt of the katana make contact with his forehead before the world fell silent once again.

------------------

Oddly enough, when Miharu came to in Soul Society, he clearly remembered his life as a human, something that was so rare, that most people, didn't think it could happen at all. Still dressed as a girl, though now wearing a plain yukata, Miharu left the district he'd woken in in search of his parents and friend. He located his mother easily, though decided not to approach her as she seemed happy, talking with other women, some that he recognised from the city. However, he never found his father and friend, thus assumed that they had survived somehow.

This thought sent a shock of relief through him. Though he would miss his friend, he would rather the other have survived that horrible situation. He checked up on his mother one last time before returning to the district he had woken in.

Years passed quickly, and Miharu's memories of his life as a human became fuzzy. Still, he kept up his training, along with his disguise. He found it quite easy to get his way when dressed as a girl. It hadn't taken long before Miharu had worked up a reputation as the district's little Shinobi girl, and one of the best fighters in the area. It wasn't that he was strong, per-say... it was more that he was fast, and knew quite well how to use Shinobi weapons. He specialized in quick, fast strikes before disappearing into the trees again, not making a sound as he darted through the bushes and lept from tree branch to tree branch.

At 100 years, he was approached and asked to join the Shinigami academy. Intrigued, he agreed, becoming a student there. He was quickly noted to specialize in weaponry and shunpo, two things that he already was skilled at in the first place. Kidou he also became decent in. However, oddly enough, he seemed to lack talent in hand to hand combat, though he always did his best. As a test of his own skills, kept his disguise all the way through the academy, somehow avoiding being caught, despite living in a dorm with other girls. Though it was easier given the fact that he suckered the dorm head into giving him his own room, using his tried and true 'teary eyes' to guilt the Shinigami woman into it.

He was ready to graduate a little earlier than most of his classmates, but held himself back a little to avoid making himself stand out any more than he already did. He didn't want to get into anything that required a lot of work. Finally though, he openly made contact with his Zanpakutou spirit and graduated from the academy. He was placed into the 2nd division at first, and spent a lot of time there, going on group assassination missions to kill off rogue Shinigami and the like. It was when he was offered a position of Vice-Captain that he decided to ask for a transfer into another division, going straight to the Soutaicho. His excuse was that he was bored, and wanted to try something else.

Thus, he was transfered to the 13th division, where he was almost promptly assigned to the living world. He didn't mind, as it was something different and it got him out of Soul Society, and away from work in general, as all he had to do was send souls onto Soul Society and fight Hollows. As a bonus, he got plenty of time to train, and even received a gigai to allow him to interact with the living world as he pleased. Much time passed, and, at one point he was the Shinigami that attended to a rather interesting traffic accident involving several cars and a rather large Hollow, which he was quick to dispatch. The souls of the dead humans were sent on, though it appeared that one human had survived.

Still, it was possible that the boy would die, so he waited until help arrived, then left. He was completely unaware that he would be meeting that boy again several years down the road...

Time passed, and Miharu was assigned to an area of Karakura City. Normally, a Shinigami wouldn't have spent as much time in the living world as he did, but he simply used his charm on the right people to get his way. At this moment, he is still working in the city.
